Our idea
Spherical Screens – Redone
Our initiative is rooted in many years of industry experience, during which we have witnessed significant advancements. Projectors have become brighter and smaller, processing power has increased tremendously, and technologies like VR and AR have shown impressive effects. All this while much of this technology has become available at significantly lower prices.
However, when it comes to spherical screens, we believe there is still much room for improvement. Many of today’s solutions are cumbersome, heavy, have long delivery times, complex installations, and relatively high price levels.
Our vision is to overcome these issues, making it by far easier to renew and establish new training centers with high performance for aviation, maritime, cranes, and beyond.
We are introducing an entirely new design principle where our new generation of screens is crafted with high precision from thin aluminum sheets. Furthermore, we streamline the entire value chain with automated production using laser cutting, flat-pack packaging for easy transport and short delivery times, and simple setup.

Eggshell was founded in spring 2024 to modernize the simulation industry with a new generation of spherical screens.
With years of industry experience, we’ve seen projectors become brighter and smaller, processing power soar, and VR/AR technologies impress—all at lower costs. Yet, spherical screens remain cumbersome, heavy, and expensive.
Our vision is to simplify and enhance training centers for aviation, maritime, cranes, and more. Our new screens are crafted from thin aluminum sheets with high precision. We streamline production with automized production, laser cutting, flat-pack packaging for easy transport, and simple setup.
How it all started
A pair of scissors and some cardboard …
It all began with the founder, Olav Sandnes, having some late-night brainstorming sessions, armed with a pair of scissors and some cardboard pieces.
Olav has been a dedicated and passionate figure in the simulation industry for several decades, working with companies like Kongsberg, 3D Perception, and many distributors and end-users worldwide.
However, alongside all the projects he worked on, he started questioning the spherical screens being installed. These were often made of fiberglass, large and heavy, and required a lot of effort to install and operate.
After a long time, he asked himself: «Can’t this be done more simply?»
The idea took shape, inspired by the principle of the egg to create a spherical screen. This also inspired the company’s name. The eggshell is very rigid relative to its weight. How could this be utilized?
During the winter of 2024, with some cardboard and scissors, the construction principle of the new concept was born. It involved assembling curved aluminum sheets to form a sphere, with no visible joints from the inside.
To further develop the idea, a long-time friend and colleague, Jonas Hahn, joined. Jonas has extensive experience in both international businesses and startups. Additionally, Jon Grasto, with four decades of experience in sheet metal processing, also joined the team.

Olav, a passionate figure in the simulation industry for decades, worked with companies like Kongsberg and 3D Perception. He questioned the cumbersome fiberglass spherical screens and wondered, «Can’t this be done more simply?»
Inspired by the rigidity of an eggshell, he conceived a new spherical screen design using curved aluminum sheets with no visible joints. This idea took shape in winter 2024.
To further develop the concept, Olav was joined by Jonas Hahn, with experience from international business and startups, and Jon Grasto, with four decades in sheet metal processing.
